How to remove a virus through MS-DOS

Booting from Safe Mode -

1. Choose “Shut Down” on the \"Start\" menu. Then choose “Restart” in the \"Shut Down Windows dialog box that appears.

 2. Repeatedly press the \"F8\" key on your keyboard as the computer begins to boot up. You should now see the “Windows Advanced Options Menu.” Use the up and down arrow keys and navigate to “Safe Mode with Command Prompt,” which is the third option. With “Safe Mode with Command Prompt” selected, press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.

3. When “Windows” finishes loading in “Safe Mode,” go to the “Start Menu\", choose the “Run” command and type in “cmd.\" This will open an “MS-DOS” or “Command” window.

4. When the “DOS” window appears, you will need to change folders to get to the folder holding the file you need to delete. You do this by typing cd \\”folder name.” Or using our example folder of “Windows” cd \\”windows”. Then press the “Enter” key.

5. Once the correct folder is indicated, at the prompt type in \"del nastybug.scr\".<br />Then press the “Enter” key. Close all programs and restart the computer as usual to exit out of Safe Mode.

How to completely remove virus from Google Toolbar

Uninstall the Program

Whether you find victim to the fake Google Toolbar or feel that the Google-designed program itself is a virus, removing the program and associated malicious software can be completed by uninstalling the program and then using antivirus software to scan your computer. 1. Open the "Control Panel" In the Windows Start menu and click "Uninstall a program" or "Add/Remove Programs" from the list of options.

Removing Malicious Software

 2. Disable System Restore. Open the "Computer" folder from the Start menu, click "System properties" button from the top menu of the window and click "System Protection" from the left-hand list of the new window. Click "Configure" and select the button for "Turn off system protection," and press "OK."

 3. Reboot your computer in Safe-Mode by restarting your computer and pressing "F8" as it boots up until a menu appears. Use your keyboard arrows to select "Restart in Safe-mode" on the list and press "Enter." Sign on as the administrator if you have more than one user for the computer.

 4. Open your antivirus program again and run a full scan of your computer. Be patient; this will likely take a while. Quarantine or delete all files the programs finds to be malicious.

 5. Re-enable System Restore. Repeat your earlier steps, only select "Restore system settings and previous versions of files" instead off "Turn off system protection." Click "OK."
