How to Install Java in Windows Vista

If you want to design and develop interactive and animated Java-based web content like animated games or financial applications etc., you need to have Java software installed on your Windows Vista computer or laptop. Check the steps given below and install Java on your Windows Vista computer:
Step1: Before you begin, turn off your firewall program (if you are using one) temporarily. Firewall may interrupt the Java installation. Once completed, you can turn you firewall back on. Besides, if you are running any older Java version, uninstall it first. (See Also Windows Vista won't shut down)
Step2: To do so, click the Start button and type ‘programs and features’ in the Start Search field. Hit Enter to get in to Programs and Features. In the Programs and Features directory, click Uninstall a Program. Select the Java program and then click the Uninstall button. If prompted, enter your admin password and confirm the action. Reboot your computer if prompted.
Step3: When done, open your web browser and visit the official Java website. Click the Downloads section> click the all java downloads here link> Windows Online. When prompted, click the Save File button. Choose a folder where you want to save the downloaded file. If not prompted, the file will automatically go to the Downloads folder. Exit the browser window and look for the downloaded file. Double-click the jre-6u31-windows-i586-iftw.exe file and then click Run to execute the installer.
Step4: On the Welcome to Java screen, click the Install button. On the next window, you may be prompted to install third party programs. It is optional; hence if you do not want to install them, uncheck the box (if it is already checked) saying Optional 3rd Party Installations and click Next. Wait for the installation to complete. When you see the message ‘You have successfully installed Java’, click Close. When prompted, reboot your computer.
Step5: If you want to determine whether Java is successfully working on your computer, download the free Java test applet from the Java website. Click the test applet link at the extreme bottom right corner of the window, click Free Java Download, and then click the Agree and Start Free Download. (Fix Blue Screen Error in Windows Vista)
Step6: Save the jxpiinstall.exe file to your computer and then run the installer. Follow rest of the on-screen prompts and determine whether Java is successfully working or not. When done, exit all the windows. If prompted, restart your computer. Java is now ready for use on your Windows Vista computer. (See Also how to Add Kindle Fire to your Netgear Router)

***Internet Explorer has Java enabled and configured by default in its browser settings. If you want to make sure that it is enabled, open IE, click Tools> click Internet Options. In the Internet Options window, click the Advanced tab and look for the Java option.
***If the Java checkbox is checked, it means that it is enabled. Otherwise, it's not. If you want to enable Java, check its box. Save the changes and exit Internet Options. Restart Internet Explorer.
