The below mentioned guide will help resolve the issue on your own and without the help of Microsoft technical support.

Instructions:

Turn off UAC –

Click on the Start menu and navigate to Control Panel. When the Control Panel window opens up, type ‘UAC’ (without quotes and as is, follow this pattern throughout the article) in the in the search box above and hit the Enter key on the keyboard. This will bring up the User Accounts feature. Click on the Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off link. Uncheck the box next to Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer and then click on the OK button. You would need to reboot your computer to let the changes take place. However, you can follow other instructions as well before rebooting. Disabling UAC can leave your system less protected.

Stop Windows Updates from Automatically Rebooting PC –

Windows Update notifications often pop up to tell us about the new updates. Once the updates have been downloaded and installed, Windows will prompt you to immediately reboot your computer. Even if you choose not to, it will automatically and forcibly start rebooting, causing the loss of work that you were in the middle of doing. You can stop Windows Update from doing so. Click on the Start menu and type ‘regedit’ in the Start Search box. Hit Enter to proceed. If prompted for an admin password, type it in and proceed. In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Policies> Microsoft> Windows> Windows Update> AU. Click on the Edit tab at top, select New, and then select DWORD Value. You will see a New Value icon placed on the right hand side. Name the key like Stopautorebooting (any name of your choice). When done, double click on the key (Stopautorebooting). Enter 1 (the numeric value) from the keyboard in the Value data box and then click on the OK button. Exit the registry editor window. If you ever want to get back to the auto rebooting feature in Windows Update, then delete this key from the registry editor.

 Turn off Click Sounds –

Every time you click on a program or icon, you hear a clicking sound. Some users find it really annoying and thus want to get rid of it. Here is the way out to problem. Click on the Start menu and type ‘sound’ in the Start Search box. Press the Enter key to proceed. When the Sound window opens up, highlight the Sounds tab and scroll down to click on Start navigation. Under the Sounds box at the bottom left hand side that has Windows Navigation Start.wav selected, click on the dropdown menu and change it to (None). Click on the Apply button and then OK to exit the Sound window. Close all the windows and restart your computer. These tweaks will help your Windows Vista perform better and less annoying.

  1. It's unfortunate that Windows Vista has been not that successful as its previous version. So many users have been displeased by its facilities, even IT tech support specialists avoid this operating systems for their customers. It's frustrating, but things are better now that Vista's successor, Windows 7 is up and running.
